If there’s one place in Copenhagen that instantly pulls you in, it’s Nyhavn.
The moment you arrive, it doesn’t feel like just another tourist spot — it feels alive. Rows of colourful buildings, boats gently swaying along the canal, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to slow down and just be there. But beyond the postcard views, Nyhavn is also where some of the most unexpectedly satisfying food moments happen.
Skip the Restaurants — This Street Hotdog Stole the Show 🌭
With so many waterfront restaurants calling out to us, we did the opposite — we followed the smell of street food instead.
That’s how we found ourselves standing by a humble roadside hotdog stall… and ordering a Fransk Hotdog that looked too good to pass up.
First bite? Instant regret — not because it was bad, but because I wished I had bought two.
The sausage was juicy with a rich, slightly smoky flavour that hits you immediately. But the real twist? The bread. Instead of the usual soft bun, this one had a firmer, denser texture — almost crusty on the outside, similar to the bite of pumpernickel bread you’d find in Germany. It added a subtle crunch and made the whole hotdog feel more hearty and satisfying.
Simple street food, but somehow it felt like a signature experience.
And honestly, eating it while standing by the canal, with that view? That’s something no restaurant can replicate.

The Dessert Combo I Didn’t Know I Needed 🍦
Just when we thought the experience couldn’t get better, we spotted a churros and ice cream shop nearby.
Now here’s where things got interesting.
Instead of going for something basic, we tried a combo I’ve never had before — gelato paired with chocolate and nut-coated churros.
Warm, crispy churros coated in chocolate and crunchy nuts… dipped into cold, creamy gelato.
Yeah — it’s as good as it sounds.
Every bite was a contrast of textures and temperatures — crunchy, soft, cold, and rich all at once. It wasn’t just dessert, it was an experience on its own.
One of those “why haven’t I tried this before?” kind of moments.

Not Just Food — This Is Where You Capture Copenhagen 📸
As the sun started to shift, we continued walking along Nyhavn, and that’s when it really hit me — this place isn’t just about food.
It’s about moments.
Every few steps feels like a photo opportunity. The reflections on the water, the vibrant facades, the energy of people just enjoying life — it’s effortlessly beautiful.
We ended our walk doing exactly that — stopping, taking photos, and just taking it all in.
If you’re heading to Copenhagen and wondering where to start — start here.

Not just for the views, but for the unexpected food finds, the laid-back vibe, and those small moments that end up being the most memorable.
Because sometimes, the best experiences aren’t planned.
