Exploring the Best Belgian Frites in Brussels! [Food Vlog 47] 探索布鲁塞尔最好的比利时薯条!

Today, we’re diving into a culinary adventure in the heart of Belgium, where we’ll be trying out some of the best fries we’ve ever had.

That’s right, we’re on a mission to explore the iconic Belgian Frites in Brussels.

Let’s rewind a bit and talk about the history of Belgian fries. Did you know that fries can be traced back to Belgium in the 1600s?

Back then, residents along the Meuse river survived on fish, but when the river froze over in winter, they turned to potatoes.

These potatoes were prepared in a similar way to fish, and that’s how the humble fry was born.

One of the famous frites spots in town is La Friterie, located near the iconic Manneken Piss.

Now, there are some rules about the size and shape of Belgian fries, but the most defining feature is that they are fried twice. The second fry, often just before serving, gives them that perfect combination of crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

And, of course, the best way to enjoy them is from a classic paper cone – that’s how they’re always served at the friteries in Brussels.

But wait, it would be a crime to have these amazing fries without sauce!

Almost every frites stand in Brussels offers a vast array of sauces. While mayonnaise is the most common, there are countless others to choose from. People even mix different sauces together, creating a symphony of flavors with each dip.

Now, here’s a heads up for our vegetarian friends – unfortunately, due to the traditional cooking methods, Belgian fries are not vegetarian. They are cooked in lard or beef fat, which is a crucial part of the flavor profile of these traditional fries.

Check out my mom’s reaction in the video as she tries out the Belgian frites with cheese sauce toppings. She loves this so much till wanted to take a photo with the shop’s truck infront of the shop but still can’t stop eating it.

There you have it, folks – the best Belgian frites we’ve ever had. If we were living here, La Friterie would definitely be a weekend spot that we must visit.

Don’t forget to give this video a thumbs up if you enjoyed it, and share your favorite frites experiences in the comments below. Until next time, stay hungry and keep exploring!
