Taeki Chan Previously we had reviewed Samsung’s Galaxy S7. A premium table by Samsung. This time we are checking out on it’s newly launched mid-range Galaxy A7 Lite to take care of online learning, videoconferencing and watching films. Below are some of our first impression of this budget tablet.
The Design. The body is mostly metal, which gives it a premium feel. If not anything, it looks like a well-designed mid-range tablet. The slate is made of aluminum, with plastic lids at the top or bottom. It measures 8 mm in thickness and weighs 366 grams. It’s easy to handle in both portrait and landscape mode and comes with sufficiently thick bezels, so your fingers can fit on them, without looking or feeling weird. The back of the table were furnished with Soft Haze finishing where it makes it feels a bit sandy texture-wise, but it’s still nice to touch and doesn’t attract fingerprints (that was the most important).
The software is also friendly to single-hand use. With a gesture-based menu, you can open the previous window, see recent apps, return to the Home screen, and more with just the swipe of a thumb. Additionally, the tablet pairs easily with other Galaxy devices — from smartphones to earbuds too!
The Screen. The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is equipped with an 8.7-inch WXGA+ TFT display. Its improved immersive experience allows you to breeze through presentations, reports, and even attend online classes.
The Camera. Moving on to the cameras, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite could take a decent photos with its 8MP F2.0 Main Camera (Back Camera). As for the Front Camera (Selfie Camera), it could function very well to any video conference and photos (with good lighting) with its 2MP F2.2 camera.
The Sound. The tablet sports Dual Speakers with Dolby Atmos offers a dynamic 10.4” display and Dolby Atmos surround sound delivers better audio quality. It would also allows older children to take in more details when immersed in their online classes, so the audio is one less thing to worry about. It has a compact design, making it great for playing games and watching TV shows. With its slim bezels, the tablet is light enough to be held with no hassle.
The Battery and Storage. The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is powered by a 5,100mAh battery, offering enough power to last the whole day. The tablet also supports 15W adaptive fast charging. Users can easily get back on track without worrying about the battery. With a 64GB internal storage, expandable up to 1TB, users do not need to worry about storing huge files from school or personal use.
Family Friendly. Younger students can also explore Samsung Kids, a digital playground that offers access to dozens of age-appropriate and family-friendly games and content. It also has parental control which allows parents to monitor their kids’ screen time and activity.

The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is equipped with a Quick Start Guide, Warranty Card, Regional Lock Guide, an Ejection Pin, a Charging Cable, and a 15W Super Fast Charging Adapter too! Keeping the price low (at RM 699), this tablet will certainly make parents consider the tablet as a festive season gift for children attending online classes. In our initial testing, there are no lags while switching between tasks and most apps run smoothly.
Being a mid-range device, of course you wound not be able to expect it performs as same as the premium tables when opening resource-draining software like Adobe Premiere Pro.
