Copenhagen’s largest and most iconic shopping area is centered around Strøget, right in the heart of the city. What makes it extra special? It’s a pedestrian-only, car-free zone, so you can explore freely and safely – just you, your shopping bags, and the cozy Copenhagen vibes.
Strøget isn’t just a single street – fun fact: Strøget is actually a nickname that dates all the way back to the 1800s! The full area stretches over 1.1 km, connecting City Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen) to Kongens Nytorv, and includes several streets: Frederiksberggade, Nygade, Vimmelskaftet, Østergade, plus the charming Nytorv, Gammeltorv, and Amagertorv Squares.
From Luxury Labels to Fashion Finds
Strøget truly has something for everyone. If you’re into high fashion, you’ll want to head towards the end near Kongens Nytorv, where you’ll find glamorous boutiques from Prada, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Gucci, Max Mara, Mulberry and more.
But hey – if you’re shopping on a budget (like me most days 😂), no worries! Keep walking towards City Hall Square, and you’ll stumble upon popular brands like H&M, Weekday, Vero Moda, and Zara. Whether you’re looking for a trendy outfit, a cozy scarf, or some cute souvenirs, this place has it all.
