Goodbye Copenhagen: My Experience Flying a Scandinavian Budget Airline

A Farewell to Denmark

After spending a few unforgettable days in Copenhagen, it was finally time to say goodbye to Denmark. This marks the final stretch of my journey before heading back to London — my last stop before wrapping up this trip.

But before leaving, I wanted to take a closer look at something many travellers often overlook — the airport experience and what it’s like flying on a Scandinavian budget airline.

Copenhagen Airport: Bigger Than Expected

One thing that genuinely surprised me was just how big Copenhagen Airport is. It’s not just a transit point — it almost feels like a mini shopping destination.

There are plenty of retail stores, duty-free outlets, and dining spots scattered across the terminal. Whether you’re looking to grab a last-minute souvenir or just relax with a meal before your flight, there’s more than enough to keep you occupied.

It’s the kind of airport where time passes quickly without you even realising it.

Flying a Scandinavian Budget Airline

For this leg of the journey, I flew with a Scandinavian budget airline — and honestly, it was quite a straightforward, no-frills experience.

The seating was on the tighter side, which is pretty standard for budget airlines. Legroom was limited, and the overall space felt compact, especially if you’re someone who prefers a bit more comfort.

The overhead storage was just enough to fit a standard luggage bag — nothing too spacious, but it gets the job done.

One thing that stood out though? Each seat actually came with a USB charging port. That’s a small feature, but definitely a useful one, especially when you’re running low on battery during travel.

The tray table was very basic too. If you’ve got a bigger build, you might find it slightly uncomfortable to fully extend and use it properly.

Simple In-Flight Refreshments

During the flight, we were served a simple beverage.

I went with tea with milk — keeping it classic. Taste-wise, it was pretty average. Nothing particularly memorable, but decent enough for a short flight.

One thing though — without sugar, it didn’t quite hit the spot for me. So if you’re someone who enjoys sweeter drinks, you might want to prepare for that.

Takeoff & Landing Experience

When it comes to the flight itself, the takeoff and landing were slightly rougher than what I’ve experienced with AirAsia.

It wasn’t anything extreme, but definitely noticeable if you’re used to smoother rides. Still, it got me safely to my destination — and that’s what matters most.

Final Thoughts

Flying on a Scandinavian budget airline is exactly what you’d expect — simple, functional, and no-frills.

You won’t get luxury, but you do get the essentials:

  • A seat to get you where you need to go
  • Basic onboard service
  • A few small conveniences like USB charging

Paired with the surprisingly vibrant Copenhagen Airport experience, this journey was a fitting end to my time in Denmark.
