If there was ever a place where AI meets everyday life with style, humour and a healthy dose of Malaysian curiosity, it’s the Samsung AI TalkSpot at The Starhill, Bukit Bintang. We had the chance to preview the launch ahead of the public opening on 21 May 2025—and trust me, it wasn’t just a tech showcase, it was a conversation.
The star of the show? Gemini Live, the new voice-first AI experience built into the Samsung Galaxy S25 Series. Unlike the typical AI assistants of yesteryear, Gemini Live doesn’t just respond to simple commands—it thinks, adapts, and speaks back like a real conversational partner. The theme of the event was simple: #TalkNotType. And Samsung delivered this experience across eight themed zones, each designed to put Gemini to the test in real-world scenarios.
Station 1: Locker Search
We kicked things off by hunting for objects hidden in lockers. we asked Gemini to “find a blue pen,” and—using the Gemini Overlay on the Galaxy S25—it scanned the image, analysed what was in frame, and responded with uncanny precision. Even when we described a partially hidden object, like “a stuffed toy in a blue shirt,” it got it right. It’s like visual Google, but smarter.
Station 2: The Marketplace
Imagine walking through a grocery store with a health-conscious best friend. We scanned a few items, asked “Is this halal?” and “What healthy snacks can I make with this?”, and Gemini didn’t miss a beat. It recommended recipes, alternatives, and even flagged sugar and sodium content. Helpful? Very. Especially for those trying to juggle health goals while navigating Malaysian supermarket aisles.
Station 3: Concert Booth
At this station, we said: “Find a concert on 24 May and send the details to my friend.” Gemini Live found an event at Zepp KL, saved it to my calendar, and even prepared the message for my friend—all without me lifting a finger. The AI’s ability to work across apps just by voice was seriously impressive.
Station 4: The Exhibit
Here, we turned my phone toward a painting and asked, “Who is the artist?” Gemini responded with the artist’s name, a brief bio, and even offered to summarise the explanation into Samsung Notes. Great for museum trips, school assignments or anyone who forgets to read the plaque.
Station 5: Travel Hub
One of my favourite booths. We snapped a photo of a hidden gem in KL and asked, “Where is this, and how do I get there from Starhill?” Not only did Gemini identify the spot, but it also planned a day-long itinerary and recommended nearby food spots. It felt like having a well-travelled local in your pocket.
Station 6: Style Lab
Fashionably lost? Not with Gemini. we tried on an outfit and asked, “Is this flattering for my skin tone?” Gemini gave styling tips, suggested accessory pairings, and even helped me find similar (and cheaper!) alternatives online. With Galaxy AI’s Photo Assist, we could edit selfies to try out different styles. Truly the future of shopping.
Station 7: Creators Lab
This station was a creative haven. we typed in a prompt: “Turn my name ‘Nicole’ into bright coffee beans with coffee cups in the background,” and Gemini generated a stunning design in seconds. The best part? We got it printed on a tote bag to bring home. It’s personalised merch, powered by AI.
Station 8: Tonic Station
Last stop: refreshment. We asked Gemini, “I feel tired. What juice combo can re-energise me?” It recommended green apple + carrot + celery, explained the nutritional benefits, and even tailored the recipe to my low-sugar preference. The juice was prepared right after, and it tasted as good as it sounded.
The Samsung Galaxy AI TalkSpot wasn’t just a tech launch. It was a bold showcase of how Gemini Live and Galaxy AI aren’t just about gimmicks—they’re about practical, helpful, and fun ways to integrate AI into our daily lives. From planning trips and interpreting art to grocery shopping and dressing up, the Galaxy S25 Series, paired with Gemini, truly offers a hands-free, heads-up lifestyle.
If you’re in KL between 21 to 27 May, drop by The Starhill (10am–10pm) and try it out for yourself. And yes, if you decide to get the new Galaxy S25, you’ll even enjoy 6 months of Gemini Advanced for free.
So go ahead, talk, don’t type. The future is conversational—and it just got a lot more exciting.
