Foodhallen Amsterdam is a bustling indoor food court located in a historic former tram depot in the west of Amsterdam, near the lively Ten Kate street market. Opened in 2014, Foodhallen draws inspiration from iconic international food markets like London’s Borough Market and Madrid’s Mercado de San Miguel, creating a vibrant hub for food lovers.

A Taste of the World Under One Roof
At Foodhallen, you’ll find a central bar surrounded by around 20 different stalls, each offering a unique culinary experience. The seating area, filled with benches and tables, provides a communal dining atmosphere that can get quite lively, especially on weekends. Here’s a look at some of the standout stalls that I had found:
– Bulls and Dogs: Gourmet hot dogs with creative toppings.
– Fento: Mexican-inspired dishes that are fresh, ethical, nutritious, tasty, and organic.
– Jabugo Bar Iberico: Spanish deli specializing in Iberico ham.
– Maza: Mediterranean delights such as hummus and mezze plates.
– Mer du Nord: Fresh oysters and local fish dishes.
– The Noodle Shop: Fresh noodles with vegan and gluten-free options.
– The Rough Kitchen: Slow-cooked pork dishes.
– Shirkhan: Indian cuisine offering Mumbai street food grilled or cooked in a tandoor clay oven.
– Mr. Temaki: Freshly prepared Japanese sushi.
– Dutch Meatball Company Run by Michelin star chef Peter Gast, the Dutch Meatball Company serves homemade bitterballen, the traditional Dutch croquette-meatballs, delivering a gourmet twist to this classic snack.
– Viet View: Vietnamese street food like fresh rice paper rolls.

Besides that, the one that we had tried during our lunch were also all the highlights of FoodHallen Amsterdam too. Here are some of the foods that we had tried out:
The Butcher
The Butcher is a renowned Amsterdam gourmet burger bar. Their beef burgers are a crowd favorite, featuring a perfectly seared patty with a tender, juicy interior. The soft, slightly toasted bun adds a delightful crunch, and the combination of fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, cheese, and a tangy sauce creates a balanced and satisfying bite. The smoky flavor from the grilled beef, enhanced with seasonings like salt, pepper, and a hint of garlic or onion powder, makes every bite a delicious experience.

Dim Sum Thing
Dim Sum Thing offers a delightful variety of dim sum, including the popular Pork Siew Mai. These dumplings have a slightly chewy texture with a tender, juicy filling encased in a thin wonton wrapper.

Padron
Padron serves grilled peppers that are tender yet slightly firm, with a charred, crispy exterior, providing a simple yet flavorful snack.
Holy Fried Chicken
Holy Fried Chicken elevates traditional fried chicken with a gourmet twist. The crispy, golden brown exterior and juicy interior are complemented by a complex blend of herbs and spices, possibly including garlic, paprika, cayenne, and thyme.

Renato’s Pizza
Renato’s also impresses us with its PROSCIUTTO COTTO E FUNGHI Pizza. This pizza, topped with tomato sauce, fior di latte, cooked ham, chestnut mushrooms, and basil, offers a perfect blend of savory prosciutto and earthy mushrooms. The crispy crust, rich tomato sauce, and melty mozzarella make each bite a burst of authentic Italian flavors.
